Canadian Railway Hall of Fame accepting nominations

The Canadian Railway Hall of Fame (CRHF) is currently accepting nominations to recognize individuals, communities and technologies that have been instrumental in building Canada’s freight and passenger railway infrastructure. The CRHF pays tribute to honorees in four categories:

  • Leaders – Individuals deemed to have had a significant influence on the construction, development, or promotion of the Canadian railway industry since its inception.
  • Heroes – Explorers, pathfinders, and individuals involved in the maintenance and operation of Canadian railways, who have made a significant or special contribution to the Canadian railway industry.
  • Communities – Communities across Canada deemed to have historical significance to Canada’s railway system, and individuals who have been instrumental in building those communities.
  • Technology – Individuals who were instrumental in developing equipment, structures, and technology that have played a significant role in the evolution of the Canadian railway industry.

“The Canadian Railway Hall of Fame awards enhance public awareness of our industry’s historic and ongoing role as the transportation backbone of our economy, and hopefully inspire a new generation of leaders to step up and participate in Canada’s vibrant railway industry,” said Shawn Smith, head of the Canadian Railway Hall of Fame Advisory Committee.

Guidelines and Nominations
Nomination submissions are due by December 5, 2014 and should be submitted through the CRHF website at: http://www.railfame.ca/sec_nom/en_nominationForm.asp

The Canadian Railway Hall of Fame is supported by The Railway Association of Canada (RAC), which represents more than 50 freight and passenger railway companies that move 75 million people and $250 billion worth of goods in Canada each year. As the voice of Canada’s railway industry, RAC advocates on behalf of its members and associate members to ensure that the railway sector remains globally competitive, sustainable, and most importantly, safe.
