RAC supports TSB rail safety recommendations

The Railway Association of Canada (RAC) and its members fully support today’s recommendations put forth by the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) related to improving the safety of moving goods by rail. The industry will work collaboratively with regulators, unions and other stakeholders to ensure the most recent set of proposals become part of Canada’s deeply embedded rail safety culture.

New Rail Safety Rules

On December 26, the Minister of Transport approved new or revised rules respecting the safety and security of unattended locomotives, uncontrolled movements, and crew size requirements, rules that, pursuant to section 19 of the Railway Safety Act, Canada’s railway companies were ordered to develop.
