Fay Pittman

Fay Pittman , Chief Engineer at Metrolinx and leads the Asset Management & Maintenance division

She and her team act as the enterprise engineering technical authority, conduct asset lifecycle management, lead technical systems integration, and deliver various maintenance responsibilities and execution of state of good repair projects.

Fay has led her team to advance enterprise asset management maturity from 35% to 64% between 2021 and 2025. This success was recognized when her team was chosen as a finalist in the Institute of Asset Management North America Awards 2023 Corporate/Organization Transformation Award category.

Fay entered the railway industry in 1999 as an Operations Management Trainee with Canadian Pacific Railway. During nearly a decade with CP she worked in various operating divisions across Canada, learning the basics of railroading and railway engineering.

In 2008 Fay joined Rio Tinto as Chief Engineer – Energy & Environmental Projects where she built a team to focus on energy reduction projects and initiatives in mining and rail operations. During her time in the mining industry, she was never far away from the heavy rail environment. As Rail Area Manager/Deputy Project Director for Baffinland Iron Mines, she was responsible for the planning and execution phase of a rail expansion project in Nunavut including involvement in the environmental assessment  and community consultation.

Fay received an honorable mention in 2024 as part of the Railway Age Women in Rail awards.

Fay holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
