Ottawa Valley Railway hosts TRANSCAER training

On May 28 and 29 the Ottawa Valley Railway invited the municipal first responders from the City of North Bay and then the following day from the Township of Markstay-Warren for training.

This training involved classroom lecture/presentation and was followed up with a rare opportunity to tour the CCPX911 training tank car. This railway tank car is specially equipped with the various valves and fittings that are found on a normal tank car that is in service to carry dangerous goods. The advantage of this training tank car is that attendees to the course can actually go inside the tank car to see what it looks like from the inside. There are also special displays located inside the tank car to add to the training experience.

The first responders in these communities now have a new insight into railway operations and dangerous goods.
